Hello from the beautiful island of Cozumel. I wish that I could tell you that we had a great day of diving, but today is the day that we return home. (Always the worst part of a trip to Cozumel.) I can tell you that we had great weather and some great diving.

SCUBAPRO Galileo HUD Dive Computer
While our cellular phones are getting bigger and bigger, Dive computers are getting smaller and smaller. And the latest innovation by SCUBAPRO is a smaller dive computer. This new dive computer is a SCUBAPRO Galileo HUD (Heads Up Display) Hands-free dive computer. This newly designed dive computer is to allow you to be fully immersed in your dive. You will experience more freedom. This dive computer attaches directly to your mask. It uses an intuitive push-wheel knob to allow you to quickly navigate your customizable menu. The placement of the screen allows your essential dive information to stay right in front of you. The screen conveniently tilts up and out of the way before and after a dive.

The Making of & Difference Between Regulators
Today we’re going to do something a little different. While I could sit here and write a blog post on how Regulators are made… SCUBAPRO has made a video. To top that, they have a video by Rene Dupre discussing the differences between Diaphram vs Piston first stage. It is always fun to learn about the pieces of equipment that allow you to see the underwater world. So grab your favorite beverage and sit back and relax. The first message is a little over 8 minutes and the second is a little over 2 minutes. So 10 minutes of relaxing while learning about regulators. Continue reading
SCUBAPRO Seahawk 2 BC
Welcome to the new SCUBAPRO Seahawk 2 BCD that came out in the 2019 diving season. This all-purpose BC is a backpack style BC similar to the Knighthawk/Ladyhawk that has air integrated into the back. The straps have been newly redesigned and if you compare, they are similar to the straps from a Hydros Pro. The advantages are this is a lighter weight BC that is extremely easy to fold and pack for diving trips.
It has a stainless-steel “super cinch” tank band positioned lower along with a second Velcro strap to secure the tank for better diving. Other new features include a 50mm waist strap with lightweight buckle, redesigned cargo pockets, and a new range of airway/valve fittings. Continue reading
My Time in Curaçao
Last year when our group went to Curaçao I was not able to go. Grady escorted the group, however this year I was able to escort the group without Grady. What did I think of this?
Dive Destination
The accommodations at Sunscape Resort were excellent. The rooms were large and tastefully decorated.
They kept a stocked prime fridge in your room with water, soda, and beer. The choice of restaurants at the resort was excellent. There were buffets, Italian, Bar & Grill, Seafood, and Japanese steakhouse. To my delight, there was a coffee house open 24 hours a day. Continue reading
Try SCUBA – 5 Mile Edition
Now if you are reading that title and thinking… don’t most people try SCUBA at 5 Mile… well… you might have a point. The thing is… this is a specialized 5 Mile Edition as in Summer Camp!
So 5 Mile where we hold a lot of the winter classes and try SCUBA sessions is also a Children’s Camp. During the summer, every week for 8 weeks they have a different set of boys and girls. One week is boys, next is girls, and so on. These weeks are quite interesting sometimes. The things those kids say are quite hilarious! Continue reading
#BlogJuly 2018
Does anyone else feel like they blinked and June and July were over? August is here. That means the kiddos are starting to think about Back to School. Where did summer go? Of course, then you have this group that just got back from Curaçao. I can’t wait to hear all the stories and adventures that go along with that group trip. I kept getting text messages with pictures all while they were gone. Jealous! But the main thing is they had fun and we get to hear about all the fun… Am I right?
But with the end of another month comes a recap of the blogs… so, let’s get to it, shall we?

Extreme Diver Interview – Jennifer Marsh
“That gives you opportunities for more things with more people…” I love that quote. Who said that? The diver I’m going to introduce you to today. Jennifer Marsh happens to be a “newer” diver. I say newer because she’s been certified for just a year. So I think you could agree, that’s newer, right? But that “gives you opportunities for more things…” The thing about SCUBA Diving is you meet a lot of different people with a lot of different backgrounds and we all just “fit” together as one big happy family. It’s the coolest thing! So without further ado, let me introduce you to Jennifer. Let’s all encourage her to dive with us more! She’s a lot of fun!!
Extreme Diver Interview – Sherri Bruce
Let’s keep it in the family today! Today, we’re going to have another diver interview, but this time it will be an adult versus a junior diver. And by keeping it in the family, I mean, let’s meet Logan Bruce‘s mom Sherri Bruce.
Now some fun things here is I’ve apparently known Sherri for years because I used to work with her at my old job. She was even good friends with one of my friends. But earlier this year when we had a Try it for the Boy Scouts I kept looking at her thinking, gosh I know her and at first, having a difficult time placing a name with a face. Then all the sudden it hit me like a freight train as to who she was. Now please, tell me I’m not the only one who has those moments…
It’s always fun when you can make these connections and have these friends in multiple different settings. So without further ado, let’s meet Sherri Bruce!
p.s. it’s so much easier when you go to add pictures if you add the correct ones to a blog post. haha.
Junior Diver Interview – Logan Bruce aka Fred Fish
Today is a good day to meet one of our new Junior Divers. Meet Fred Fish… aka O-Ring… aka Logan Bruce. Poor kid may not know his name when he’s around all of us. We all have our nicknames for him. I met Logan earlier this year when the Boy Scouts came to 5Mile for a Try it session. His mom, Sherri said he’s quite the water fish and she couldn’t get him out of the water, now it’s even worse. When he tried SCUBA back in January, he was hooked.
Memorial Day weekend he and his mom finished up their certification. I kept jokingly calling him Fred which soon turned into Fred Fish or Fred the Fish. Take your pick. It was back and forth the whole time. During Safari Hunt Weekend I heard his nickname also became O-Ring. I guess he blew a few so he got that nickname. Like I said, so many nicknames he probably doesn’t know his real name… haha.
But today is the perfect day to introduce to the rest of you Fred Fish… O-Ring… Logan Bruce.
